Brittany is currently in her final semester at Rutgers University as an Ed.M. in Dance Education with K- 12 Certification Candidate, expected graduation May 2016.  During her time at Rutgers, she has had the opportunity to work with renowned NYC choreographers David Parker & “The Bang Group” as well as Summation Dance Company.  She has had the privilege of collaborating and co-presenting alongside Dr. Barbara Bashaw at the 2015 National Dance Education “Standards in Action” Regional Conference in Baltimore, MD as well as co-presenting Dr. Bashaw’s presentation alongside a fellow Ed.M. candidate, at the 2015 Dance Educator’s Institute Conference in Baltimore, MD.  In addition, Brittany has had the unique fortune of working with K-12 students in New York and New Jersey including Talent Unlimited High School (NYC), PS89 Elementary School (NYC), Hillcrest Elementary School (Somerset, NJ), and Cranford High School in Cranford, NJ, where she fulfilled her student teaching internship in Fall 2015.    

                                                             

Prior to attending Rutgers, Brittany was teaching in a variety of venues as well as developing curriculum for dance studios in the north/northwest suburbs of Chicago, IL.  Likewise, she worked with North Suburban public school districts in Illinois as a choreographer for school musicals and dance shows as well as taught Master Class at Dance Workshops around the Chicagoland area.  Brittany had the honor of debuting her choreography as a professional in such venues as the Highland Park High School’s 2012 HP Dance Show “Kaleidoscope”, Deerfield Family Theater’s productions of “Oliver” and “Honk”, as well as in musical productions with Glencoe Junior High Project’s, Caruso Middle School, and Wood Oaks Junior High School. In conjunction with her choreography and teaching experience, she had the honor of becoming the Artistic Director for the Dance Connection Dance Studio’s Competition Dance Team, Connections, in 2013.  In her spare time, Brittany generously volunteered her time and skills teaching dance to students in the ‘We Can’ program through the North Shore Health Center plus the Nuestro Center in Illinois, while keeping her Spanish language skills current.

Biography

In 2010, Brittany graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northern Illinois University with a BFA in Theater – Emphasis in Dance Performance and a Minor in Spanish.  While at NIU, Brittany worked with choreographers such as Jon Lehrer, Paula Frasz, Judith Chitwood, Randall Newsom, and Autumn Eckman.  In 2008, she became a member of “From The Hip Dance Project”, a professional Jazz Dance Company based in Chicago, IL, while continuing her studies at NIU.  Some “From The Hip Dance Project” highlights include, Dance Chicago’s Jazz Cabaret, Dance Chicago’s New Moves, Dance Projections Collaboration Performance and was personally invited by Nigel Caaro to audition for “America’s Got Talent” as his VIP guests in 2011.

                                                                                             

Upon graduation from Rutgers University, Brittany hopes to become a K-12 Dance Program Educator in a public or private school district.  She is excited for the next chapter to begin as she has re-discovered her passion for dance as a performer, choreographer, teacher, and artist and is ready to do what she loves everyday by giving back to the community and positively influencing future generations!!
